Reality Center Government Solutions
SGI® Reality CenterTM facilities offer the ability to deal with huge quantities of information--maps, imagery, GIS data, video, audio, and weather data--efficiently and seamlessly. The wide field of view offered by our large-format and high-resolution displays provides the ultimate in situational awareness. Reality Center solutions support government and defense users worldwide with decision support solutions in command and control, disaster/crisis response, mission operations, and briefing/presentation centers.

SGI's traditional strengths in high-performance graphics systems, scalable high-performance compute capability, and large-scale data storage are the perfect ingredients for the modern, 21st century military operating in a digital battlefield. "Information dominance" is the goal of our solutions--understanding the situation and providing an environment for rapid, confident decision making.

Decision Support Systems

Lockheed Martin utilizes SGI® hardware in the development of the JSF (Joint Strike Fighter). By creating a large tactical visualization center, the Virtual Battlefield Management Center (VBMC), the company is able to test operational concepts for the JSF in a virtual combat environment and validate the results before the aircraft is built.

"You want to quantify and demonstrate that the vehicle is controllable, lethal, and stealthy while assessing its tactical effectiveness . . . these models are high enough in fidelity to satisfy our goals." [Success Story]

Visual Simulation Systems

NASA is researching the cutting edge of command centers with the Future Flight Central, a full 360-degree air traffic control tower system, capable of displaying simulated or real time data for airport safety. This project allows NASA and the FAA to study how air traffic controllers work with pilots and ground personnel to assure the safety of passengers and aircraft on the ground and in the air.
